The bill to regulate Colombia's cryptocurrency ecosystem is expected to be presented next February. This is expected by some of the community members in the country who have been working on the legislation since last year.

According to the statements offered by Mauricio Tovar to CriptoNoticias, as the South American country's representative to the Ibero-American Blockchain Alliance, the project is ready and in the hands of the national executive. They hope that it will be introduced in Congress when they restart the activities of the legislature.

After taking a recess last December, Colombia's Congress will resume its activities on the 16th of next month. From that date, the government has the opportunity to present the bill to be included in the next debates.

This is a proposal that, since 2023, has been jointly processed by members of the bitcoin ecosystem together with government agencies. The Ministry of Finance, the Financial Superintendence and the Bank of the Republic, as well as trade organizations such as Colombia Fintech and Asoblockchain, participate in the working table.
